Someone Almost Died Today!!

Today was a very important day for America’s future. But, so as not to get off on some sort of debate, I’ll just keep it strictly exercise.

I like to do my workouts as soon as I wake up. No matter what time it is, it’s just what I prefer to do. Sometimes it happens at 8am, sometimes at 5pm. (My schedule is wonky because of the work shift that I have.) Regardless, I’d rather get it over and done with when my day “starts.” Today was no different. I woke up at 4:30pm and started prepping for the first day of Insanity in my new hybrid schedule; Max Cardio was on for today. Shorts on and drawstring tightened. Check. Water bottle full. Check. Tissue nearby. Check. (My nose runs when I exercise :/ ) I was ready.

Before I entered my workout area (which also happens to be my craft area…we have a one bedroom apartment, mind you) I went to the bathroom to get my tissue and got a little bit of a surprise. Ya see, we’ve had a problem keeping our 2 kiddos in their cages (by kiddos, I mean hamsters.) It all started a while ago when Truffle, my hamster, found some sort of exit point from his cage. We have yet to figure out how he is going about this because the bars don’t seem wide enough to squeeze through, even for a hamster. We’d come home from work and find him casually running around the house; we’d put him back and not even thirty minutes later, he’d be doing the same thing. We recently taped up the edges of the cage so as to deter Truffle from getting out. It worked. However, when my husband cleaned the cage recently, he had to take the tape off and didn’t reapply it.

Yesterday, I came home from work only to find Truffle running around the house again! Oh me! I ignored him and went to sleep only to be woken up a few hours later by my husband who was waving a cup in my face. Still half asleep, I peered in the cup only to see my husband’s hamster, Scamp. Somehow, Scamp found Truffle’s exit point and decided to use it. Now, we have two hammies running around the house.

Onto what I was talking about earlier. I went into the bathroom and the surprise I got was that Scamp was running around my feet. Unlike Truffle, who runs away if you get within a 10 foot radius of him, Scamp will actually take the time to crawl up your leg if you allow him to. Since I was moving, the only thing Scamp did was bite my toe. (Stupid little…) With that, I gently nudged him along and he ran out of the bathroom and only God knows where.

After accumulating my tissue, I started the video and got ready to sweat. I made it through the warm up with no real problem other than my jaw locking up. It was so painful I almost cried…but I didn’t. I moved my jaw around, sucked it up, and kept going. Later in the video, we had to do diamond jumps. I’m not particularly good at these, but I decided to do my best anyway. I moved to the living room, which was about 5 steps forward and faced the mirror that’s against the far wall. (The mirror helps me check my form.) As I was doing (or trying to do) these diamond jumps, my feet land on the floor and I noticed that something furry and white was just a few centimeters from where I landed. Ack!! When I paused to try to scurry him along, he crawled on my foot and bit my toe again! (Stupid little…)

He finally ran away and I was able to complete the rest of the video without near killing my husband’s “baby.”

Also, just recently, I received my heart rate monitor in the mail and have been able to track my calorie burn and heart rate the past two workouts. Today, I noticed that the numbers ranged from 154-171 during today’s workout. (For some reason, the 171 occurred during the “recovery” phase of the video. Ha! My heart rate spiked when were did the over the river jumps!) My calorie burn ended up being in the 700’s! It was a great workout and even though I didn’t sweat as much as I usually do, I know that I’ll be feeling it tomorrow! (good sign!)

Btw, I am in pain!!! My abs, back and shoulders hurt so much from pushing myself on Monday! By the end of today’s workout, I could barely lift my arms to do the cool down breaths. (I did anyway, though.) And, even unloading the dishwasher made my legs all shaky. :D It’s a good feeling, but it still hurts. :D
There's the little Scamp!!

Oh yeah!

Not super sweaty, but before I exercised, my hair was really frizzy and sticking up in random directions...I think the sweat smoothed it some :D
Signing Out,
It’s Possible!!
